Fashion kits, or emergency kits as they are sometimes called, are easily available for purchase at many stores. However, it is easy to make one and even makes for a great gift for your bridesmaids as well. Something is bound to go awry, whether someone gets a blister from their new shoes or there is a stain on a dress. Here’s some things you can include in your kit to make it your very own.
First, start with a fashionable mini bag, no bigger than a small cosmetics bag. You can choose to get small bags in your wedding colors, or just plain black; it is completely up to you. It all depends on the size of the items you are buying too. Try to stick to the travel section of your drug store for most items. Here are some items you can include:
- Hairspray – for those fly-away hairs
- Emery board – in case someone breaks a nail
- Tampon or pad
- Lip balm or lipstick
- Clear elastics
- Stain remover
- Nail polish remover
- Deodorant
- Earring backs
- Safety pins
- Band-Aids (choose a couple different sizes)
- Bobby pins
- Double-sided tape
- Listerine pocket packs or Tic-Tacs
- Sewing kit (thread, needles, buttons, etc. – you can get these at any dollar store)
- Dental floss
- Clear nail polish
Beyond the normal things you would keep in your fashion kit, you should also bring a small first aid kit along for the bride. Nothing cramps the bride’s style more than looking like she is in pain or anguish, so having some antibiotic ointment in case a stray spark for your wedding sparklers happens to burn her hand and a bottle of pain relievers in case of a headache can go a long way. First aid isn’t what normally what comes to mind when thinking of fashion, but if the bride is unhappy, in pain, or just plain uncomfortable, it’s almost impossible to look your best no matter how good your hair and make=up looks.
You never know what you might need on your big day, and your bridesmaids will be thrilled that you thought of them, too. Nothing is worse than being unprepared so make sure you are with your fashion kit.
